I was out last weekend and while lying down over the tank I heard a humming noise, having read other posts on the thread I listened and I decided it was coming from the front tire.
If you have to weld the tank use solder rather than brazing, it will stand the vibration better.
It is easy to do yourself, rinse it with water a couple of times and then heat it up using the exhaust from your car by directing the exhaust into the filler cap. Solder it while you are doing this and it is safe.
Stop heating it, let it cool and try it and you will have a much larger tank and will need to go change your underpants. When it is full of exhaust fumes it will not explode but if you stop the fumes will come out of the metal and ,,,BOOM,,no matter how many times you rinse it.
